The American Platinum Eagle holds one troy ounce of .9995 platinum, and its sister, the Palladium Eagle, one ounce of .9995 palladium. Their values follow those metals' prices.

About Platinum and Palladium Eagles
- Platinum Eagle: struck by the U.S. Mint since 1997, the first U.S. platinum coin. The bullion coin shows the Statue of Liberty. Fractional sizes were made through 2008.
- Palladium Eagle: first issued in 2017. It uses Adolph Weinman's Winged Liberty design from the "Mercury" dime.
- Proofs: proof Platinum Eagles carry a new design most years and are sold to collectors. Send photos; they're priced at least on their metal.
