Referrals
Refer a seller.
Know someone selling scrap gold or silver? Send them to us, and we'll pay you 0.5% of what we pay them for it, with no cap.*
*Subject to the rules below and our Terms.
How it works
- Apply for your code. Fill in the short form below, and we'll email you a referral code and your own link.
- Share it. Send your link, which fills in your code for them, or have the seller enter your code in the "Referral code" box when they request a free estimate. Someone who opens your link and comes back to request an estimate within 90 days on the same browser still has your code filled in.
- Get paid. Once their sale is complete, we pay you 0.5% of what we paid for their scrap.
Say you refer a jewelry business that sells us $10,000 of scrap a month. You earn $50 a month, which is $600 a year, and you keep earning on their sales for as long as they sell to us. Refer a shop that sells us $50,000 a month, and you earn $3,000 a year.
What counts
The fee covers scrap: scrap and karat gold, dental gold, sterling, and damaged or lower-purity silver. Coins, bars, and other bullion in the same sale don't count toward it.
The rules
- No self-dealing. You can't refer yourself, get someone else to "refer" you, or share a referral fee with the seller. We pay the fee only to the referrer, in their legal name. Self-dealing is against our policies: we may reverse or withhold referral fees, report suspected fraud, and close the accounts of everyone involved.
- One referrer per seller. Your code has to be on the request for the seller's first deal with us; we can't add it afterward or to a later deal. After that, their later scrap sales count for you automatically, and the first code a seller uses is the one that counts.
- Fees are paid on completed sales only, after we've paid the seller and any holding period has ended.
- Tell people you're paid. If you promote us, say that you earn a referral fee, for example: "I earn a referral fee from Osiris Precious Metals." The FTC requires it.
- We pay by Zelle or PayPal, to an account in your legal name, so please don't send bank account numbers. The name registered on that Zelle or PayPal account must match the legal name on your application: we check it before every payment. Without a W-9 on file, referral fees are capped at $1,999 a year.
- A W-9 lifts the cap. Your welcome email includes a private link to upload one anytime. It's more private than email, since a W-9 carries your Social Security number.
- We check every payee against the U.S. sanctions list, just as we check every seller.
- "Spot" means the Kitco bid, wherever we use it, as our Terms say.
- We may decline a referral, and we may change or end the program. A change never affects a referral already made.
