Bullion coins like American Eagles, Krugerrands, and Maple Leafs are priced by the gold they contain, so their value moves with the gold price every minute of the trading day.

A 22-karat coin weighs more than an ounce because of the copper and silver mixed in for durability, but it holds the same full ounce of gold. Fractional coins (1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 ozt) hold the gold their size states.
Dealers pay a percentage of the gold price
Dealers pay a percentage of the gold price for the gold a coin contains. Gold is at $3,925 an ounce right now (the Kitco bid), and we pay 96% of the Kitco bid for gold bullion coins and bars, priced when we verify your package. Ask any buyer what percentage they pay, and of which price.
Graded coins are priced one by one
Coins in a grading company's sealed holder are priced individually: send photos of the coins and their labels for a free estimate. Keep them in their holders.
Keep coins in their holders until you sell
- Keep coins in their original tubes, capsules, or holders.
- Count them by type, and note any that are graded.
- Some large sales of bullion have to be reported to the IRS by the dealer (when dealers report). If any part of your lot is in that category, we'll tell you before you ship.
