What fractional coins are worth today
Gold is at $3,942 per troy ounce (the Kitco bid). We pay 96% of that for the gold in bullion coins of every size:
| Size | Gold content | We pay today |
|---|---|---|
| 1/2 ozt | 0.5 ozt | $1,892.35 |
| 1/4 ozt | 0.25 ozt | $946.18 |
| 1/10 ozt | 0.1 ozt | $378.47 |
| 1/20 ozt | 0.05 ozt | $189.24 |
Which coins come in fractions
American Gold Eagles, Maple Leafs, Krugerrands, Philharmonics, Britannias, Kangaroos, and Libertads all come in fractional sizes, each holding the gold its size states. Gold Buffalos were made in fractions only in 2008, and collectors often pay more for those.
Fractions cost more to buy
Dealers usually charge a higher premium over the gold price to sell you fractional coins than 1 ozt coins. When you sell, our rate is the same percentage of the gold either way.
