What we pay

Our rates are a published percentage of the Kitco bid: 94% for scrap gold and 96% for gold bullion coins and bars. At today's price that's $69.46/g for 14K gold. See every rate, or work out yours in our estimate calculator.

Scrap prices are per gram of metal after melting, not per gram of what you send. Stones are removed, and dirt, glue, springs, and anything else that isn't gold or silver burn off or separate out, so the weight paid is usually less than your scale shows.

We buy everything from North Carolina

  • Everything we buy, we buy from North Carolina: scrap and karat gold, dental gold, sterling, coins, bullion, and whole collections.
  • Ship insured. USPS Registered Mail is the most secure way to send precious metals. See how to ship to us.
  • Get paid within 7–10 business days of delivery, by Zelle, wire, ACH, or PayPal, to an account in your name.

How North Carolina dealer law applies

North Carolina's precious metal business permits are tied to a place of business in North Carolina (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 66-407). We're a California dealer based in San Francisco, and we follow California's rules, plus federal anti-money-laundering rules, on every purchase: we verify every seller's ID and pay only to an account in the seller's own name.

Why a gold counter pays less

A gold counter's offer is made on the spot and has to cover the shop's rent and staff. Our rates are posted before you ask, and your estimate comes in writing, so you can compare it with any other offer at home. How to sell gold by mail safely walks through each step.

We pay top dollar for gold, at published rates set before you sell.
