What we pay
Our rates are a published percentage of the Kitco bid: 94% for scrap gold and 96% for gold bullion coins and bars. At today's price that's $69.16/g for 14K gold. See every rate, or work out yours in our estimate calculator.
Scrap prices are per gram of metal after melting, not per gram of what you send. Stones are removed, and dirt, glue, springs, and anything else that isn't gold or silver burn off or separate out, so the weight paid is usually less than your scale shows.

How Colorado dealer law applies
Colorado has no state license for precious metal buyers; its secondhand law and city licenses cover sales and trades made in the locality (C.R.S. §§ 18-13-114, 18-13-118). We're a California dealer based in San Francisco, and we follow California's rules, plus federal anti-money-laundering rules, on every purchase: we verify every seller's ID and pay only to an account in the seller's own name.
Why a gold counter pays less
A gold counter's offer is made on the spot and has to cover the shop's rent and staff. Our rates are posted before you ask, and your estimate comes in writing, so you can compare it with any other offer at home. How to sell gold online and ship it safely walks through each step.
We pay more than pawn shops, jewelers, and mail-in gold kits: in Consumer Reports' tests, jewelers and pawn shops paid 36% to 71% of melt value, and mail-in kits 11% to about 29%. We pay 94% for scrap gold. Who pays the most?
